Osama bin Laden’s death ignites war of words and sparks discrepancies

The 40 minute raid at Osama bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad by the US Navy Seal Team Six has finally killed the most wanted terrorist of the world.

Osama, 53, had been hiding in the isolated compound, few 100 metres away from Pakistan’s Military academy for six years.

The Obama government had been following the trail of Osama’s location from last August after it got information about Laden’s trusted courier from a militant arrested in Iraq. The trusted courier whose pseudonym is Sheikh Abu Ahmad was the main source of contact of Osama to the outside world.

The Navy seal team took possession of Osama’s body after the fire fight and after the DNA tests that confirmed the identity of the dead; an immediate Muslim funeral took place in the aircraft.

The body was later buried at the sea. The Obama government stated that this action was taken, under the Islamic religious customs to avoid the grave from becoming a shrine.

War of words’

As the encounter was not planned ahead with the Pakistan government, the sudden raid has ignited harsh war of words between the two countries.

The Pakistan government states that the action was ‘unauthorised and unilateral.’ It also stated that such encounter would not be appreciated in the future.

Salman Bashir, the Pakistani foreign secretary has criticised the American attitude.

On the other hand, US government states that the prior news of the raid was not shared with most of the diplomats so that Osama could not be warned in any manner.

 ‘Britain’s Silence’

Interestingly, the House of Commons did not automatically rejoice after hearing the death news. PM David Cameron, rather chose to immediately call the ‘Cobra’ meeting.

Cobra is the civil contingencies committee of UK which derives its name from the Cabinet office Briefing Room A in the Bowels of Downing Street where they regularly meet.

President Barack Obama was not invited for the royal wedding. But there were no speculations regarding his absence. Instead, Obama chose to visit the storm hit Alabama, issue his birth certificate to silence Donald Trump and prepare for the last stages of the encounter.

David Cameron later congratulated the US forces for their victory but he did voice that vigilance should not be avoided because Al-Qaida would definitely plan a retort.

‘Discrepancies’

The White House is currently debating whether or not to release the pictures of dead Osama as they are quite gruesome.

As days are passing by, more and more discrepancies are enveloping the entire encounter. To start with, it was first stated that Osama used his wife as a human shield to protect himself but later this detail was withdrawn stating that his wife was injured as bullet hit her leg.

Also, the first comment that was released stated Osama was killed in a fire fight but later revelations state he was unarmed.

Nevertheless, the ultimate fact is the Osama Bin laden, the top name in the US most wanted list, and the cause behind the bombing of World Trade centre and other illicit terrorist attacks has been killed.

President Barack Obama plans to visit the site of World Trade Centre of Thursday where 3000 innocent people were killed on 11th September 2001.
