Why Gadaffi should surrender?

Recently, Gadaffi wrote a three page letter to President Obama, asking him to stop the ‘unjust war’.

He wrote…

We have been hurt more morally (than) physically because of what had happened against us in both deeds and words by you … Despite all this you will always remain our son whatever happened. We still pray that you continue to be president of the U.S.A. We Endeavour and hope that you will gain victory in the new election campaign’

Sounds sarcastic.

Or perhaps, President Obama should have done that. Whose war is it, anyways?

As the Libyan revolt gets into another tormeting week, there are few positive insights. Yes, the power of pro-Gadaffi supporters is more. Yes, they are trained with gun fire manouver. Yes, they have dangerous weaponery.

But few things are going to change. And perhaps, will. To start with, the first crack became inevitable when Mussa Khussa defected the Gadaffi government. He fled to London, suddenly. To those who do not know, he was the Libyan Minister of Foreign Affairs.

A major jolt, I must say.

The same day, a diplomat was sent to London to talk about peaceful strategies by the Gadaffi government.

In the next four days, Omar Shatwan, the former Minister of Energy, defected in fish boat to Malta. He says, most of the government officials in Gadaffi’s government want to defect. But are very scared.

Interestingly, he also says that Gadaffi is running out of cash and oil. Of course, bombarding Ras Lanuk- the oil fields, is just not going to harm the rebels. It is going to harm Gadaffi too.

Another jolt, I must say, again.

But the worst awaits now.

Gadaffi’s own sons- Saif al-Islam and Saadi are working on a plan to oust him from power.

Unfortunately, this is not King’s Speech – the movie which saw the making of King George. This is real life. Rather, this can be history striking again.

Perhaps, another Saddam Hussein is lurking inside Gadaffi. Who knows?
